FC Dallas Loves Afterburn Soccer

We are flattered that FC Dallas with name and design their new kits after this humble sports podcast and blog.

Are we flattered? Are we in love?

Right now, I am simply speechless.

A day after Valentine’s Day, FC Dallas dropped its new kit as part of its preseason festivities, and we had no clue that Dallas was popping the question to this here humble sports media outfit. Granted, we are kind of new. Sometimes, the new partner at the school dance is all the rage. Maybe we are the lucky ones. Maybe this is our version of Sixteen Candles.

Yes, I know jets have afterburners, and FC Dallas’ visit to Wichita Falls and Sheppard Air Force Base is plenty of inspiration as highlighted in the video above.

But we chose Afterburn Soccer as our name both because it connects with Dallas Burn’s past and implies the fierce, fiery attitude we seek to embody.

(It also connects to our roots as an After Dark show, breaking down the nitty and gritty after a big FC Dallas match. By I digress.)

This kit is a sign that the FC Dallas franchise is infatuated with this substack site and its future and continued coverage of the team.

Let’s just say - we see you, FCD.
