Live Show Tonight at 8 PM CST: FC Dallas Downs Houston
Afterburn Soccer Show is back, live, and beyond thrilled for a massive win on the road to start FC Dallas' 2025 Major League Soccer campaign. Go live with us.
Last Saturday, I did a quick game preview as the minutes brought FC Dallas’ first official action of 2025 closer and closer. The weather was nasty in Houston. The mood was hopeful but uncertain. Eric Quill and a whole host of players were making their debut for Dallas — it was impossible to know what to expect.
And while I don’t think any FC Dallas fan would admit that the team performance on Saturday was where the squad needed to be, when the final whistle blew, Dallas was walking home with three points and a massive start to the year.
Tonight, on the Afterburn Soccer Show at 8 PM CST, we take a moment to break it all down. You can watch with the link above.
How do we grade Eric Quill in his first match as FC Dallas head coach?
No doubt, the nerves and emotions were all over the place. Quill was coaching in his first game at this level in front of family and friends. How do you think he handled the moment, and what did you see from his substitution patterns and choices?
Which debutant for Dallas impressed the most?
I didn’t predict Ozase Urhoghide to start. Maybe few of us did. But not only did he start, he dominated. What does this mean for the record defensive signing, and what does it mean for Dallas’ ceiling for a long season ahead?
Or should we focus more on Anderson Julio who scored the clutch go-ahead goal?
Or Shaq Moore’s dependable work in all phases of the play at right back?
Who do you want to see more out of going forward?
The win is huge, but it’s clear that Dallas has a lot to work on. Lucho Acosta did not exactly dazzle in his first start, but he wasn’t alone. Bernard Kamungo got a big start and was kind of a mess, earning a yellow card for some reckless play. The offensive side of the ball is definitely a work in progress. What do you hope shows improvement in the coming weeks as the team builds more chemistry?
What stories around the league have you intrigued?
I’ll get personal - I had been a little jaded over the past couple of years, mostly ignoring other teams in the league, but there were enough stories and scintillating results that I found myself glued to MLS 360 for stretches of Saturday and Sunday. That’s a good sign. San Diego beating Seattle in Seattle was a fun match to watch. What other matches had you on the edge of your seat?
We’ll hit these questions and others as we go live in just a couple of hours.
See you then!
